Where I’ve Been

I grew up in a home where the smell of turpentine was often present. My mother was an oil painter and later became a painting conservator when my brothers and I were less of a full time job. At a relatively young age I became familiar with the galleries on Newbury Street, one or two of the antique shops on Beacon Hill, and one of the premier Boston auction houses, all by way of my mother’s friends and business colleagues. I saw my first Andy Warhol exhibit in the Boston ICA at age 15 or 16 and will never forget how that colored my views of what the world was comprised of. I was lightly steeped in this culture and unmistakably influenced.

I studied Fine Art and later Architecture. I graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 1971 and I also have a degree from the Boston Architectural College. I am a registered architect in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, I have an unrestricted Massachusetts Construction Supervisor license, and have been involved professionally in the design and management of new construction and renovations of many buildings throughout New England for over 40 years. I have always enjoyed fabricating things and have been spending more time on my art as my professional career winds down.
